That’s right. The Wanaka Airport is a buzz of excitement this week, as our notable tenants NASA together with the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility, gear up to launch a test flight of their Scientific Research Balloon on Sunday 15 March. The test flight will mark the first of it’s kind for New Zealand. All going to plan – and that means P.E.R.F.E.C.T. weather conditions, the team will launch the much anticipated 90m Diameter and 2,360kg unmanned balloon into the atmosphere at sometime before 11am on Sunday morning.
